And it only takes him a couple of days to do the job so I'm sure he can squeeze it in! I suggest after the European tour!

Jim posted to the McAnally's list yesterday. He is a busy boy at the moment, but he always takes time to keep us up-to-date, Love 'im! Anyway, the bit regarding the audio:
Surely he'll do it! Two days, which he always enjoyed, out of his life? Come on Jimmy, get the contract signed!

Cindy (from a variety of boards and lists) has heard for Joy at Buzzy and apparently james is now scheduled to do the recording of Grave Peril in September. Hopefully this will still leave time for it to be ready for Christmas release, as it is going to be my present to myself.

Taken from BAPS, as posted by Cindy:
(I'm posting this on several James/Spike boards, so if you'd like to share it elsewhere, feel free.)
As you already know, James did the recording/narration of book 3 of the Dresden Files, Grave Peril, last week for Buzzy Multimedia. I spoke with Joy yesterday evening, and she graciously shared a few comments about it. (As a fan herself, she knows how much we enjoy JM news and info, these days especially.)
The recording went really well, and James was "extremely enthusiastic". (Are you surprised?) Joy sounds very pleased and excited about it. It will be at least 9 CDs since it is a longer book than the first 2, so the price will be more, BUT, they will add a little `incentive' or bonus item to the purchase to make it even more worth it. (As if James, a Jim Butcher book, and the quality of Buzzy's product isn't enough, IMO!) They aren't sure about the release date yet but will let us know when it will be available for pre-order; it will be later than originally hoped due to the recording date being later than initially planned.
She and I both love this book, and it's a favorite of many because of the great character descriptions and development, and James apparently did a wonderful job with it. Joy commented that it was especially fun for James with the addition of new characters in that he had new voices to do, like Thomas (fangurl *sigh* here) and Michael. Joy commented, "The way James slips into the character of Harry is like a hand slipping into a glove". (Sounds like a perfect fit to me!)
Also, Joy and June passed on a few small gift items to James from fans who had asked them to, when they knew that they were going to being seeing him. Joy said that his responses regarding his fans, and how he talks about his fans is "endearing". She commented on how he talks about "HIS" fans with much pride, and that he took the time to look over what he was given

I'm afraid it can't be on its way til March, pet. It does seem like a long time, but hopefully I'll have gotten caught up on all the books by then, and allowed myself to listen to Fool Moon (I'm not doing that til all the books are finished. I'm a masochist!).

This is kinda pissing me off Extract from an interview with Michael Shanks about reading for audio books: One challenge that Michael Shanks didn’t let get to him was how sensitive the recording system in the studio is and how much and what kind of background noise it can pick up, including the rumbling of a hungry tummy. When asked if they made him aware of this before he began the recording process, Shanks answered yes.
“Absolutely, that was what the publishers were saying. Because I have very little experience they were telling me something about when they were reading internet stuff on James Marsters, because I think James Marsters has read three or four of these things with them, and they were saying that James’ fans on line would be listening along with him reading the books and would be not so much even paying attention to the story that was being listened to but gauging what he was physically doing by the sounds that were going on in the background, if he was drumming his fingers, if his stomach was growling. If he was shifting and you heard fabric moving, what was he doing? And that was what the main discussion about James and his book readings was. That, you know, not that what the book he was reading having very little to do with it so much as what he was doing or thinking or imaging or just focusing on while he was reading the book based on the subtle sounds of body movement or material things during the reading.”
Having learned that about Marster’s online fans, did Shanks feel this might make him self-conscious and did he worry about it while narrating the novel? <snip>
Now, whenever I have read or taken part in discussions about James reading the Harry Dresden books, the talk has revolved around how amazing his voice sounds/how hot/how sexy/how soothing, and what an absolutely fantastic job he does at giving each character its own personality and tone (I particularly love his readings of the various women). I have never noticed or cared if I can hear him tapping his fingers or whatever because he (and Jim Butcher) has me totally wrapped up in the story and caring about the characters. I mean, for fuck's sakes, he made me cry in Storm Front, and that wasn't because I thought he might be hungry cause I heard his stomach gurgling scifi.about.com/od/article1/a/localcustom3.htm

Hmmph well all I can say is that the way James reads these books I am so totally wrapped in the story and his voice that I've never heard any background noise either.
