Well, if you'd just glanced a few posts up you'd have seen that there was! Don't forget to watch the ep itself on 31st! Bit more about it: In "Persona," the first new episode since mid-December, the real Clark (Tom Welling) remains frozen in the Fortress of Solitude, while Bizarro (also Welling) seeks the help of the newly-returned Milton Fine, a.k.a. Brainiac (James Marsters), to ensure he can stay "Clark" forever. Meanwhile Lionel Luthor (John Glover) learns that Daily Planet editor Grant Gabriel (Michael Cassidy) is a clone of his dead son, Julian. The episode features Superman movie alum Mark McClure (Jimmy Olsen). comicbookmovie

SMALLVILLE Gets An 8th Season
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The CW made it official by announcing Smallville as one of the six scripted shows tapped for early renewal. Also, Season 7 is going all the way to 20 episodes.
Tom Welling's Clark Kent will be tending the farm for at least one more year, The CW revealed in a March 3 press release.
In the meantime, "Hero", Episode 13 of the current season, will air some time in March, to be followed shortly by "Traveler," featuring Gina Holden (SciFi Channel's Flash Gordon) as Patricia Swann. Episode 15, "Veritas," will air soon after that.
In early February, The CW ordered 5 more episodes of Smallville, taking Season 7 to an unexpected total of 20 episodes. The New York Times reports that these new segments will begin airing on April 17th. James Marsters will return as the BRAIN InterActive Construct in Episode 18. According to The Continuum, however, Phil Morris's Martian Manhunter may take a powder for the foreseeable future, thanks to the erratically-planned Justice League movie.
Most of Smallville's cast is solid for Season 8, but the final lineup won't be announced until The CW's upfront event in May. According to STEVE YOUNIS at Superman Homepage, Kristin Kreuk, who was contracted to play Lana Lang for seven seasons only, will be back for at least a portion of the season. However, the network will have to renegotiate with fan-favs Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) and Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor). ComicBookMovie

That first pic is lovely. News of S8! Superhero Hype apparently talked to actor James Marsters who noted that he's shooting two more episodes for this season and he'd be happy to bring the Brain Interactive Construct back for season eight.Comic Book Resources

Smallville: Veritas Posted Mar 27th 2008 11:00PM by Brad Trechak Filed under: OpEd, Smallville, Episode Reviews
(S07E15) This episode could have easily been the season finale of Smallville. It had characters change, characters vanish and a very sad cliffhanger ending. I wonder if it was the last one written before the writer's strike started?
It opened with a quiet day on the Kent farm. Then Brainiac (played by James Marsters) showed up and things got violent. In a rare instance, Clark showed up on time in the beginning to save the day, rather than the end of the program. On another note, that farm gets trashed a LOT.
This episode continued the Lex / Lionel Luthor arc that has been building this season. Could it be more obvious that Lionel is being set up to die, killed by his own son? There are spoilers on the Internet saying that a cast regular will die next episode. It pretty much spelled out in the previews for the next episode "Descent" (to be shown on April 17th). On the other hand, the show has misdirected us before, so I'm not going to say that's a sure thing until I see the body.
I don't know how residuals work in Hollywood, exactly, but does the actress who played Patricia Swann get something for the use of her likeness in photos and such? I would suspect so. Probably not as much as if she were physically in the episode, however.
At first, I thought Brainiac was pulling a Sylar and got his energy from human brains. I liked how he lobotomized Lana because it meant less of her whining.
Lois' character remains consistent. She has no problem bending the law to get a story (and it seems that Jimmy Olsen is becoming her protegé in that regard). How is it that she doesn't get jail time for B and E? Oh wait. It's television.
Lex's sins are catching up with him. Nothing like a homicide accusation to make him lose ownership of the Daily Planet.
I did let out a chuckle when Kara tried pushing Clark upward ("Up, up and away"). Despite his growth, I guess they need a bigger moment before the producers break the "no flights, no tights" rule. You'd think Kara being taken away by Brainiac would be enough.
My favorite parts of the episode were the flashbacks with young Lex (starring the same actor who played young Lex in "Fracture") explaining how he and his father were in Smallville at the time of the meteor shower. Backstory like that always makes for a better experience for the viewer, in my opinion. I also got a laugh when I saw young Oliver Queen holding a toy bow and arrow. Also, Lex was playing with an action figure (not a doll) that looked like a bald Superman. That's as much foreshadowing as Clark and Kara ALWAYS wearing blue and red.
Another Smallville oddity: how does a newspaper have access to a power grid? Chloe's visibility has been somewhat lessened in recent episodes. Given how the focus has remained on everyone else, that may be consistent. Unless, of course, they are setting her character up to die instead. Given her meteor powers, that is a possibility.
To sum up, Lana is catatonic, Kara is missing, and Brainiac is goth (a seeming nod to James Marsters' previous famous role). I enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next episode in three weeks.

Smallville: "Veritas" Review Brainiac returns! by Chris Carabott US, March 28, 2008 - The last time we saw Brainiac (James Marsters) he was teaming up with Bizarro in what we expected to be a pretty exciting episode. Well, it ended up being a rather lackluster supervillain team-up and with the recent trend of disappointing episodes we were expecting more of the same. Surprisingly, "Veritas" gets the ball rolling for the final few episodes of the season and kicks off a couple of new intriguing storylines.
"Veritas" is broken up neatly into several different concurrent storylines that all relate in some manner. Nothing really comes together by the end of this episode, but it appears that everything is building towards something big. Well, at least we hope that it is. The episode starts off running with Kara coming face-to-face with Brainiac in the opening moments. From there on out, Clark, Kara and Chloe attempt to track down Brainiac while also trying to understand what he could possibly want with Kara.
Unfortunately for Clark, Brainiac's ability to fly gives him a huge advantage. This leads to a scene with Kara attempting to coax Clark into flying. The description that CW sent out implies that there is "teaching" involved. Well, there is nothing of the sort in this episode and Clark shrugs off any lessons that Kara may have been willing to give. While this is more than a little frustrating to watch, it does come back to haunt Clark at the conclusion of the episode. As Kara hands herself over to Brainiac, Clark is left helpless as he is forced to watch both of them fly off into the night sky and into outer space.
Clark is also left completely useless when it comes to protecting Lana whose cerebral cortex has been altered by Brainiac. In fact, this whole episode seems to be dedicated to showing how completely useless Clark is. If the "No Flights, No Tights" rule didn't exist, we'd expect this to be the point at which Clark would finally learn how to fly. That being said, we don't know what to expect from here on out. Since Clark can't fly, how will he develop as a character to overcome this obstacle? This storyline pretty much demands some sort of transition from one stage to the next.
After the death of Patty Swann, everyone is pointing the finger at Lionel Luthor who is now desperate to regain Clark's trust. His impassioned plea to Chloe was actually a little awkward to watch. At one point, he gets down on his knees and begs Chloe to trust him and heed his warnings. Lionel was at the point that it seemed like something was physically wrong with him or forcing him to act against his well. It's a stark contrast to the Lionel of old whose evil machinations were a real treat to watch.
The Veritas story picked up this week as it was revealed that Lex had Patty killed for the contents of her necklace. Apparently, the gunshot to the head that he received a few weeks ago jogged a new storyline into his memory as he can now clearly recall events from his childhood that directly relate to Veritas. His search for the two keys was rather uneventful but we do learn that Lionel is in possession of the second key. There is also a great flashback sequence to Lionel, Robert Queen and Edward Teague discussing the Traveler (Clark). It does a lot to bring the Veritas story to life but we're still not quite clear on how this connects to everything else that is going on. How did they plan to control the Traveler and what is contained in the safety deposit box that Lex is tracking down? It's definitely an intriguing mystery.
Lois and Jimmy team-up to get the scoop on the murder of Patty Swann. This was the weakest component of the episode but we do appreciate the attempt at teaming up Lois and Jimmy. To an extent it feels a lot more inline with the Superman mythology but Lois not looking much older than Jimmy seems a little strange.
"Veritas" does a great job of getting the ball rolling for the final few episodes of the season. However, after watching so many Smallville story-arcs begin with promising potential, we'll be approaching these final few episodes cautiously. IGN
