I have fond memories of SFX events. Glad they are going back to a full weekend of sci-fi delights, even more glad for anyone attending that it won't be at the Norbreck in Blackpool ;D

This one is Feb 9th&10th 2010 at Pontins, Camber Sands, Sussex. Tickets (starting price £85) go on sale 1st July and include accommodation. There'll be guest stars, Q&As, book readings, comic workshops, the annual SFX Awards etc.

As far as I can tell they haven't announced anyone yet; they were plugging the event in the new SFX mag, which isn't in the shops yet, and it didn't name any names. Pretty much just the info I brought here, although subscribers will get a discount on tix.

They held an event in London for a few years after the Blackpool one, but I like things that are hotel (or in this case Pontins ;D ) based and you run into guests and SFX staff in the bars etc ;D And being a sci-fi geek, I also prefer this kinda thing that embraces many fandoms.

James totally owned the Blackpool one, to the extent that other guests were sneaking in to his Q&As. But other highlights were discovering author Robert Rankin - what a funny bloke ;D And the ST: Deep Space Nine boys 8-)

It's very tempting, especially as it's not too far to travel. I have been contemplating the Being Human con, also in Feb. Feb is not long after other big expenditure so I probably shouldn't but then again I might ;D ;)

We'd be happy to do that NN 8-) but we will probably need to know before 9.00 on the Wednesday who will be there ??? Hopefully this will be posted. Also Rainbow and I have another training day in London on Wednesday and will probably be at London Bridge station but we will give this minor detail some thought ;D

I just saw 'holiday camp' and my immediate response to that is always 'I'm in ' ;D
You're right gels , wait until we know if the pools going to be warm before diving in ;D

And anyway ...I've already said yes to a weekend at Butlitz with the girls in September, which I have to pay for in a couple of weeks (and its twice the normal price we pay in winter :o)... and we may be going back to Turkey in May ..and there's also Hallowhedon ...and I'll stop there !

Yeah, that starting price was based on 8 people sharing as well so it probably needs careful weighing up.

They should have locked down some guests for def when they started promoting it and gone ahead and named them, coz that would give people a better idea of whether there's enough in it for them (which, come to think of it, may be why they haven't!).

Yes, naughty SFX ..it looks as though they're trying to lock people in to this before dangling any carrots , and before anyone has the chance to look at these reviews of that particular holiday camp
