I know i wanted to steal the bed and sneak it in my suitcase take it home but it wouldn't fit darn, It was soft and cushioned, you sank it to it but in a good way, plus a only had 1 pillow but the bed was so great i didn't need to use 1 which was weird cause i normally have about 2 or 3 pillows under my head.

I take a lot - but I only show the really good ones!
Anyway - heres the start of my report from Hallowhedon
Rosie Goes to See James at Hallowhedon.
Friday 30th October
Hey ho, another week another con! And we knew that James was in the country so was going to be there this time. And another one in this country, even though I was driving up to Heathrow (with James reading Turn Coat for company) – not to catch a plane though, but to set down in Jenny’s flat and base myself there.
Having collected keys and sorted out what I needed to take with me, I drove to the Thistle Hotel – had no trouble finding it as it was nice easy back roads from Jenny’s. Didn’t have a good start though when I did as Erykah had suggested and turned left as I came in to go round the back of the hotel to find parking – the ticket machine had no tickets so the barrier wouldn’t open! So I had to back up and go in the front after all.
Found a whole group of people in the hotel reception – Pauline and Sheila and the like, though they were waiting for Dee Dee as she had a lot of the hotel stuff. I went and got registered; both for me and for Patti, who wasn’t able to come after all, so had appointed me her official collector of swag, autos and photo ops. Got both of the registration packs and a mug and t shirt each. (Some of the photos in the pack I wasn’t that impressed with – Nick Brendon’s was one from Season 1 so he looked really young and the James picture was a nice one, but he was blonde. Yes, I know, Buffy convention and all that, but it still has to be at least 6 years old!)
So then there was much sitting about and chatting and catching up with people. I was talking to Team Brit outside and we were asked by a good-looking guy if we knew who was working for the convention. The others pointed him towards one of the Massive Event guys and then giggled and said it was Mark Lutz! (I wouldn’t have known – I’m afraid I watched Season 1 and a bit of season 2 of Angel – then got bored and went straight for season 5…!)
I needed food, so did my obligatory trip to McDonalds (always once on a James weekend!) meeting with Sue and Jill whilst I was in there and then back again via the car to pick up my camera monopod before the opening ceremony. As ME is very rigid and regimented in its organization, you were seated by being called in groups of 10 by pass numbers – I was Gold 69 (!) so was the seventh group called – though if you weren’t right there, there wasn’t much time before they moved on again. Being on my own made it easier – meant I could slip into any odd seat – and there was one right on the front row thank you very much! (In fact I ended up in almost the same seat every time over the weekend!)
There were 5 directors chairs on the stage with each of the guests names on – James’s was in the middle! – and they later auctioned each of them off. Then the ME guys came on to start and immediately said that as some of us already knew, James was injured last week on set and in fact he had hurt his spine as well, so he wouldn’t be able to sit to do autographs – he would probably be standing, and that he asked that please no hugs. There was a ripple of consternation through the crowd and I felt my heart sink a bit. Jeez, what was the guy doing??
Then they called the guests up one by one – Nick Brendon, who was looking pretty good, James Leary, Mark Lutz and Mercedes McNab. James was last out as it seemed he was the main man. I honestly expected him to be hobbling and creeping along slowly, but no, he came striding out as ever with a huge grin – and he was looking amazing! His hair was long and the curls were fabulous! Looked like he’d just thrown water on them and pushed them back, making him look very young. He was wearing black baggy trousers, faded black v neck t shirt and black zip up hoody over the top and had a fine silver chain round his neck.
He couldn’t sit, so stood behind his chair leaning on the back and he was grinning. There was a bit of banter going on, especially about the fact that they auctioned the chairs and James wouldn’t have sat in his! And I remember Nick saying he had seen James about a year ago at an audition – “Did you get the part?” asked James. “Nope – did you?” replied Nick “Nope!” said James and then they high-fived each other…!
It was just a short introduction so once the guests were off stage, the gold ticket holders were held back as the rest of the hall was emptied and then we were steered straight towards the gold ticket holder’s party with the guests in another room. I found James straight away – leaning against a pillar with the scary security guy with the bald head that’s always with James at Massive and Showmasters events. He looked good and was quite chatty, but I suspect he was hurting a bit. Various people offered him different painkillers throughout the weekend!
I think the plan was to get each of the 5 groups of numbers into a spot and then bring each guest to them but it wasn’t that policed so I think quite a few people missed out. So having grabbed a drink and hugged Steve in passing (I said “I can hug you!” and he replied “yeah, but you hug him and you’ll kill him!”) Seemed that group 3 that I was in was first with James. and so I got in by him. Hand shaking all round, though we had to reach as James wasn’t leaving his post (literally!) And the party was noisy and as I wasn’t right next to James it wasn’t easy to hear what was being said. Of course we had to ask about the accident. James told us it was a “flag” or sail which is one of the big light-reflecting screens they use I think– apparently they fall down a lot but usually come down like a leaf and so you can get out the way. But this one, cos of the way it was hung up I think, came straight down like a knife and caught him squarely on the back of the head. He was unconscious before he hit the ground and he landed on concrete!
So then he was in hospital for a couple of days and they were shining lights in his eyes etc and he seemed to have recovered fine – and then when he got out of bed, he discovered he had reactivated an old back injury from the Buffy days – its not actually a slipped disc, more of an inflamed one. So there was much wincing and sympathy from those of us round him.
I asked if he could tell us anything about Caprica, but he was fairly cagey and just smiled at me. But then said he was in 5 episodes (he thought! – he was counting up on his fingers!) and not sure if he would be in any more. So I said - "oh God, they've killed you again haven’t they???" and James grinned and said "they were going to - but changed their minds!" Big grins from me and several of us said "You're doing a Spike on it!" and he agreed and then said "If I end up in a wheelchair then it will be perfect....!" – as in Spike being in the wheelchair rather than dead. So that was really good news – as ever, James’s totally brilliant acting has knocked them all sideways and Barnabus Greeley is going to take over the world….!!
There was a lull in the conversation and then James said to a tall girl next to me with hair that’s even redder than mine “Your hair is fantastic!” for which she thanked him and then he turned to me and said “And yours is just fabulous!” I did a huge grin and thanked him - Lovely! James noticed my hair – what a sweetie!
He was then moved onto the next group and we got James Leary. He and Mark Lutz were insane – constantly on at each other and taking the Mickey across the room and being very loud and silly. I wasn’t so bothered to meet him, so went to join Team Brit who were talking to Steve – he was telling us about plans for next year without giving too much away – sounds like James will be doing something about once a month!! Eek!
I had heard earlier that Patricia was with James and she was pointed out to me as I had never seen her before. And man, she is gorgeous! Long dark hair, very dark eyes and dark skin – not totally perfect, as maybe her nose is a bit big, but that adds to the whole – she is still stunning! A bit taller than me, slim without being skinny and just lovely. I was amused to see she had on a “James Marsters…Nice!” badge! Some of the others had been talking to her already and said she was lovely.
Then I was in a group with Lisa who was talking a bit about the plans for the London event in February and then she said “I better go and check on Patricia, and make sure no one has said anything to her” and then added vehemently “And don’t believe any of the shit you read about her, she’s a lovely girl!”
I’ve always been the kind of person that likes to challenge myself to do difficult things occasionally, and I decided I would like to go and talk to Patricia. She was talking with one other fan, but I just went up and said “Hi” and introduced myself. And up close, she was still utterly gorgeous and I told her so! Her English is perfect and I ended up chatting with her for about 5 minutes. We talked about her fashion course and about James’s work – she said she would love for him to do the Spike movie! – and I made her laugh when I said I’d probably seen him more this year than she had!
She excused herself eventually and said to come and talk to her anytime over the weekend, which was very sweet. I then went over by where Tyra was sitting and had Nick Brendon come up to us. He was showing off his tattoos and Tyra was showing him hers! He was pretty funny actually – I admit I never liked Xander after the first series of Buffy and so I wasn’t so bothered about meeting Nick, but he was a pleasant surprise.
The party was soon over and then it was time to go to the main hall for the big party. Having changed, I went in but couldn’t really find anyone I knew, but I wanted to have a dance – so I did! Though not as much as I would have liked as to be honest the DJ wasn’t much good – some of the music was dire and not what you want to dance to and he had no idea about how to keep a floor full once he had got people up. I did find Cal and her friend and we had a bit of a bop - but when I had to pay £1.90 for a small plastic cup of coke, I decided to call it a night!.
Only went wrong once driving back and it only took about 15 minutes. Jenny had set up her laptop on the ironing board for me, so using it as a desk, I could sit on the bed and report on what was going on so far on the various boards whilst eating toast!

Saturday 31st October
Up and away fairly swiftly, as I had a photo op with Nick B at 9am! Though I had to check I had everything with me for the whole day, including all autograph stuff, camera, and my costume for the party later! Being a Saturday morning it was easy driving with very little traffic and I made it with plenty of time. I joined the queue and talked with new people which is always fun, and then went to ask when and where the sheets for the bidding on the intimate encounters would be going up (very soon!)
Malcolm the photographer was being very professional with a head mic and speaker so he could talk to the guest and those being photographed without yelling – mind you, he did keep on shouting out at those waiting for being too noisy! I had my “Patti – Wish You Were Here” sign to be photographed first and Nick was happy to pose with it. When it was my turn, I said Hi to him and he said it back but that was it really. Malcolm did a great job – I look really good!
My next appointment was with James for photos, so in the meantime I found 2 of the stewards putting up the intimate encounter bidding sheets on the bar shutters and so I and several of Team Brit hovered by them waiting for them to get the James one up. I thought I would go straight in for a high bid to set the standard. So I was first one on at £75 and then I did the same on the second – as long as I got on one, that would be fine and there was always two more on Sunday! After that it was a case of keeping an eye and calculating how it was going (basically – the 10 highest bids won, but all those ten then paid the cost of the lowest of the 10 bids. And if there was more than one bid of that price then the first one who bid got it. And 2 people each got in on a raffle draw!) Dee Dee and Big Momma had set up camp on the middle table in the centre foyer right by the sheets and for the rest of the day this was a central meeting point with people coming and going to their various photo ops and signings – schedules were compared and people tried to work out where they were supposed to be when and it was an ever changing group but with the same people coming and going.
People who had been in to the main hall for autographs said that James wasn’t standing up to sign – he was lying down! He was lying on his front on a table, with pillows under his chest and signing like that. I couldn’t believe it and wanted to see for myself, but going to have to wait a bit to see as I wasn’t scheduled to have any autos until later (my one with James wasn’t until Sunday morning)
I went to join the queue for James’s photo op and knew it wouldn’t be going anywhere for a bit as Nick was running behind – but hey – queuing – not a problem – even if I did find myself queuing right outside the gent’s toilet door which led to inevitable comments!
I’d been there a little while when Lisa and Patricia walked past – Lisa acknowledged me and then came over to talk and also to the girl behind me in the queue. Lisa introduced me to Patricia ( who was tis morning wearing a James dog tag !)and we grinned and said we had talked last night and then Lisa was saying about having her “This is the James Marsters Queue” t –shirt and how handy it was - so I flashed them my Queue badge which was pinned on the back pocket of my jeans. Then Lisa was telling Patricia about how Kelly and I won the Queuing game back in May and was telling her about me running with the nuns along the embankment! (I am particularly proud of that moment!) She thought it was hilarious!
About 10 minutes later, they came back past me (the queue had not moved) and Patricia was carrying a black balloon on a red string that had James’s signature on it – goodness knows where from! It looked like one of the balloons from the party the night before. A couple of minutes later they came back out of the dealers room and came up to me again and after a couple of pleasantries Patricia said something like “here’s a special present for you” and gave me the balloon! I was a bit taken aback as it was totally unexpected and slightly bizarre in a sweet way, but recovered quickly and said thank you! It has James’s signature in silver with a little heart on it. As they turned to go, I said “It’s going to deflate” and Lisa shot back over her shoulder “Like any man!” which doubled me up with laughter. I was a little at loss as to do with said balloon, but luckily it wasn’t too big and I was able to put it in my rucksack (where it happily survived and as I write this, over a week later, its still up - albeit a lot smaller than it was!)
Not long after, the queue started to move and Malcolm was telling everyone to be quiet again! Steve was at the head of the queue as we approached James reminding everyone to keep their hands down and not to touch.
James of course looked utterly gorgeous! His curls were a bit wet and he was wearing the baggy black trousers, a dark red t shirt and black zip up cardi (one of very few men who can make a cardi look incredibly sexy!) I was expecting to have to just have gentle poses but James was being fairly cuddly with everyone.
My turn – and I handed him Patti’s sign to start with to do her photo. OMG – he stuck his bottom lip out about half a mile in the most adorable pout you have ever seen and looked all puppy-dog eyes sad – wonderful! Knew that was going to be good!
Then it was me – I walked forward and it was so hard not to get a handshake and then a hug – but we said Hi and I got a lovely smile. He was as lovely as ever, maybe a little quiet, but so gentle! I wasn’t going to ask for any pose – it was up to James what he wanted to do – I was terrified I might touch him without thinking and hurt him. I had 4 pictures altogether and first off James just draped himself round my shoulders and hugged me which was lovely. Then he just moved his head slightly and I felt his lips against my face, just by my eye. I turned slightly towards him (hands down Rosie!) and there ws James right up close, effectively kissing me. I just closed my eyes in bliss!
Malcolm called that one and then James moved round behind me and put both arms round my neck. We weren’t really saying anything; I was just letting James do whatever he felt comfortable with and being as accommodating as possible. Malcolm took that shot twice and whilst he was checking the second one, James dropped back but was running his hands gently up and down my arms as they hung by my sides again – I love it when he does that – little unconscious friendly touches!
Last picture – James asked me – “do you want to do back to back?” – so I said “Sure” but I was really worried about touching him – it was his back!- so I leaned against his shoulders and then I was curving my spine away from him! We both just folded our arms and James is smirking more than me!
That was it and I turned to leave as James offered his hand, so I gripped it and said” You take care sweetheart – I’ll see you later!” it was so nice just have a touch like that – its not until its not there that you realise how much we take for granted all James’s handshakes and hugs. He grinned and said “Right on!” and then I was on my way out.
The rest of the morning was taken up with having photos with James Leary (we did a silly pose and he did a sad face for Patti too) and also with Mercedes. I also made my first foray into the main hall for getting James Leary’s and Marks autographs (I managed to miss photos with Mark!) Whilst standing in the queue for James L, I could look across at the table with the pillows ready for our James - and when I was about halfway down the line, James came in and took up position, climbing onto the table and lying on his front with the pillows under his chest, so his hands were free to sign.
I had an unobstructed view and originally I had thought I would try and sneak a picture across the hall, but seeing James like that stopped me cold – straight away I knew I didn’t want to remember that - It was just totally wrong!
He looked fairly comfortable I suppose, occasionally kicking his legs up, but he was shifting about all the time and after a bit (because of course I couldn’t stop looking as it was James) I felt like I wanted to weep. I hated seeing him like that – bouncy, vital James stopped by pain.
A bit later, sat in the foyer, scoffing a sandwich for lunch, I was facing the doors and so saw James leave – he was walking with one hand on Stuart, the security guy’s shoulder for support and looked like he was in a lot of pain. There was a sort of lull at this point where autos were finished and before the afternoon and so everyone was having something to eat and I think James must have taken something for the pain as he looked a lot better later on.
The bidding was creeping up on the Intimate encounters, but I decided to leave it for a bit – we had the group photograph for the gold holders to come and we would actually be in listening to James on stage when the bidding closed for the first one, as he was first on - so I wanted to bid at the last minute.
When I went for the group shot, there was quite a lot of laughter coming from behind the screen and it was lovely to hear James’s giggle at one point – it was somewhat conspicuous by its absence this weekend. Malcolm had arranged them in a group and then each person slotted into the shot – luckily right by James in the middle. First of all Patti’s picture had to be done, so I handed the sign to James again and he said “Ok – we all have to look very sad!” and did another pout. They had to do a retake as the light was on the sign (I laminated it!) and we got another different James pout for that one!
Then it was my turn. As I came in James smiled at me and said “Hey, Rosie” in a quiet drawl and that made me smile too – always gives me a boost when he calls me by name! No one was touching, so I just stood slightly side on to the camera, facing towards James and I ended up laughing when the picture was taken because of something Mercedes said behind me – cant remember what! I thanked them all – but especially James of course!
I was ready to be right up by the doors for the hall to be on hand when my number was called, but first I stopped off at the intimate encounters list and put a higher bid on both of them and hoped that would be enough! And I was close at hand too and managed to get a front row seat again on the same side, which was fine with me – no obstructions for photographing!
